Sussex residents encouraged to be slow travellers

Your Big Sussex WeekSussex is set to host the best event of the year for residents living in the county.  ‘Your Big Sussex Week’ is back and it’s better than before!  Now a week-long event ‘Your Big Sussex Week’ will take place from Monday 16 to Sunday 22 June and will encourage people to engage with attractions, foods, places to stay and things to do which are available on their doorstep.

Residents from across East and West Sussex can discover new attractions and revisit old favourites.  As well as attractions, this year’s event is expanding to include special offers and discounts available at local cafés, pubs and restaurants and on accommodation.

With over 100 businesses involved in the event, it promises to be a week of discovery, activity and fun from wildlife to gardens, stately homes to fun fairs, local produce menus to mid-week breaks.  There really is something for everyone to enjoy.

Your Big Sussex Week – a Sussex Tourism Partnership initiative – promotes sustainability by encouraging residents to cut down on their travel and stay local.  People will also be able to cut down on their spending too as attractions, eateries and accommodation will be offering discounts off entry prices, menus and booking fees.

Nick Head, chairman of the Sussex Tourism Partnership, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer the people of Sussex these discounted rates at so many attractions, restaurants, pubs and accommodation venues.  We feel that ‘Your Big Sussex Week’ really gives something back to the people who live in this amazing county, it is also a great way for tourism businesses to say thank you to the residents for the warm welcome they provide to visitors.

“We encourage people to get out and about and show their support for ‘Your Big Sussex Week’.  Go and discover the rich heritage, colour and entertainment your county has to offer you, while taking advantage of the wonderful reduced rates!”
